Domo Alley-Gato Tatsu-Ya – Located in East Austin Domo Alley-Gato Tatsu-Ya was only a 5 min walk from my cousins, with a lot of thought and deliberation they decided finally settled on this place. Arrived on a Sunday afternoon and to my surprise with football season it was a bit quiet, which was good because we were able to take our time looking over the menu. They are a mostly outside venue with limited inside seating and is very dog friendly! They also share the restroom with the ramen spot next door.
The atmosphere was that of Japan (peep the pics), very beautiful! Everything (food and drinks) was reasonably priced... We mostly got small plates but if you are hungry get the ramen but only want apps as a meal I would suggest a bowl of Curry/Chashu with Karage/Goyza. The fam and I got; Curry, Chashu, Edamame, Spicy Edamame, Korokkaaayyy, Gyoza, Katsu Slider, Karage and Negi rice bowl.
Curry – Nicely seasoned, no meat
Chashu- Delish, basically a porkbelly type adobo
Edamame/Spicy Edamame – Both very good but I would get the spicy, better flavor
Korokkaayyy – Typical flavor
Gyoza – Came out pipping hot, flavorful and juicy!
Karage – Can taste the marinade, crispy and addicting
Katsu Slider – Yummm but so small for $6
Negi Rice Bowl – OOOOoo this was a flavor bomb, surprisingly enjoyed this dish. Very savory!
Shinku punch – Very flavorful and refreshing paired well with all the dishes!
Super cool spot on E. 6th St. It’s like this hybrid bar that came out of Ramen Tatsuya the restaurant next-door. Very stylish and super chill. There wasn’t enough parking in the back of the restaurant. Parking was definitely a little bit hard to find and they charge until midnight.
Incredibly delicious.
The kirin foam was interesting and frosty.
The chicken karagge was a perfect appetizer, but the star of the show was the spicy chilled ramen. I can't describe how really delicious and savory the chilled is while being refreshing.
I hope this stays on the menu rather than just being seasonal. It's a perfect main dish for a hot summer Texas day.
I really like it. I would love to revisit again
I had ramen first for dinner inside and it was good.
I went to outside and then had some small bites with beer and cocktails. They were all good. Foam beer with vanilla was good.
Casual vibe and very austin vibe. I love it!
First time here and upon entering, I was blown away by the decor. It definitely set the tone for modern yet nostalgic.
As an appetizer, we got the karaage. One of the best, if not the best, interpretation of this classic Japanese dish. It was nice and crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside.
I got the Mi-So-Not ramen. The broth stole the show here. I would go back just for a bowl of broth.
For a drink, I got the Saga Chillton which was also really delightful. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it surpassed whatever it was.
This is my favourite bar in Austin!
So eclectic, fun and adorable. The decor itself makes it something like an art project or installation that you absolutely must go see. The inside is like this Japanese environment with paper lanterns, seats made of what’s supposed to be crates of Sapporo beer. There’s cats everywhere. And the tables have cat decals with the menu QR code on them.
And their famous thing is this Japanese Ichiban beer with a foam swirl on top that comes with flavour shots you can drop in the beer. The other things on the menu are kind of basic but cocktails are good.
The vibe is also really laid back and chilled out
Highly recommend checking this place out! I know I’ll be back soon!
So so yummy and good food . Never had vagrant broth ramen. It was so good
Tasty!
I got the MISO-HOT, and it was spicy and delicious 😋
Also, I agree that the name and the decor are quite fun and entertaining in and of itself.
